Frequently Asked Questions
What is Forest Holidays?
Forest Holidays owns and operates 6 Cabin sites across England, Scotland and Wales, operating entirely within the Forestry Commission estate
What does Forest Holidays do?
Forest Holidays provides Cabin holidays in stunning locations.
Our Cabin holidays are self catering, with a range of Cabins suitable for couples, families and groups of friends.
Where are Forest Holidays Cabin sites?
Forest Holidays Cabin sites are located in England and Scotland.
In England, we have Deerpark Cabins situated in Cornwall, near the stunning Cornish Riviera. In Gloucestershire, you will find our Forest of Dean Cabin site. In North Yorkshire, you will find Keldy Cabins and Cropton Cabins.
In Scotland we have Argyll Cabins in Dunbartonshire and Strathyre Cabins in Perthshire.
What is there to do on a Forest Holiday?
Forest Holidays are focused around using the forest its self for entertainment, rather than more commercialised activities. On a Forest Holiday you can explore the miles of paths and cycle trails in the forest, join a Forest Ranger on an activity and learn more about the natural environment you are holidaying in or take part in an active adventure such as pony trekking or sailing in the local area.
What will I find on site?
With a Forest Holidays Cabin break, each site has a slightly different level of facilities, ranging from basics like a launderette and payphone to our Forest Experience Room where you can find information on the local plant and wildlife and Forest Retreat where you can check in, buy groceries, wine and souvenirs or sit in a comfy chair and relax with a Costa coffee.
Are there plans to introduce more sites?
The simple answer to this is yes. We want more people to be able to enjoy our unique offering, so we are looking to expand the number of sites we have. Our Forest of Dean site was new in 2010, and we will be looking to introduce more sites over the next few years.
We are also refurbishing existing Cabins and have so far spent over £3 million on upgrading existing Cabins and introducing more options for our customers.
What sort of accommodation does Forest Holidays offer?
Forest Holidays provides Cabins at four different levels. Our luxurious Golden Oak is our top of the range Cabin and comes complete with wood burner and hot tub. Some even come with a tree house extension!
Our Silver Birch Cabins used to be our top offering and are only outdone by our Golden Oaks. The Silver Birch also offers an outdoor hot tub.
Copper Beech Cabins are great for an active family holiday, providing all the essentials and a great place to kick back and relax after a hard days exploring.
Our Evergreen Cabins are practical and comfortable, perfect for an active family or back to nature holiday on a more modest budget.
Can I bring my dogs?
Dogs are welcome at all our Cabin Sites. We offer both pet-free and pet-friendly Cabins at all accommodation levels and welcome up to three well behaved pets per Cabin. Your dogs will think they’ve gone to heaven!

What is there to do for children?
At Forest Holidays we encourage children to be children and provide plenty for them to see and do. The forest is one giant garden for kids - they can play, run, hide and cycle to their heart’s content. You can even hire bikes for all the family from us.
Our Ranger activities are also great for the kids (and adults too) as they can have fun and learn about the plants and animals in the forest at the same time.
