Emergency information

What to do in an emergency

For emergency services (ambulance, police, fire, or coastguard) please immediately call 999 (or 112 from a mobile). Even without phone reception, 112 will work. Do not delay if you feel an emergency situation has arisen.

All cabins have their own unique What3Words code, found on the map inside your the main door. Please give this information to the emergency services.

Please also contact us at the Forest Retreat to let us know about your emergency. If it's out of hours, call 07788 197 389.

In case of a fire
  • Exit as quickly as possible
  • Ensure that all persons are accounted for
  • Dial 999 and ask for ‘FIRE’
  • State your location
  • Notify us once you're safe
Do not attempt to re-enter until a Fire Officer states that it is safe to do so.

Out-of-hours issues
A member of the team will always be around for emergencies at night (power issues and medical emergencies). If it’s an emergency, please call 07788 197389.

The Forest Retreat is open every day from 8.30am – 8.30pm. Reach the team on 01301 702 293 during these times.

For bumps, bruises and scrapes, ask for our First Aider on duty in the Forest Retreat.

There's a defibrillator located at the Ranger Basecamp.
The access code for this is: 9999

Please also alert a team member so they can provide first aid support.

If there's a fire
  • Evacuate your cabin immediately. All emergency escape windows in the bedrooms have stickers with instructions on them.
  • Raise the alarm locally by using the fire bell at the nearest fire call point (shown on the map on the back of the front door of the cabin) and report to the location team as soon as possible.
  • Make your way to the primary assembly point marked on the map above.
  • DO NOT stop to collect personal belongings.
  • DO NOT re-enter any building until you are told it is safe to do so.
