Follow the loch

This 17-mile route from Tarbet, near Ardgartan Argyll, down to Balloch at the southern end of Loch Lomond, is an easy, level terrain which runs along the banks of Loch Lomond. It takes in the pretty village of Luss, where you can buy Scottish tablet to keep your energy levels up, as well as offering superb views of Loch Lomond and Ben Lomond. There is a train station at Balloch to bring you back to Tarbet.

There are lots of enjoyable, family friendly cycle routes in Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. The Old Military Road (Inversnaid to Trossach Pier), takes in 3 lochs and has the exciting option of catching the waterbus back across Loch Lomond. Glen Loin Loop

A great way to take in the splendour of the Arrochar Alps, the Glen Loin Loop starts with quite a tough ascent. But you know that’s going to mean a thrilling fast downhill to finish! The ride starts and finishes in nearby Arrochar and the scenery alone makes this tough ride worth the effort.

There are two exciting trails for thrill-seekers at Glenbranter. The Glenshellish Route is described as a gentle taste of the wild, with the potential for sighting rare wildlife and enjoying glorious views. The Glen Eck Loop is a full day out and one for the fittest of cyclists, with some hard climbs. Those climbs are worth it though, for views of Loch Eck, Dunoon and the Clyde, Beinn Mhor and, on a clear day the islands of Jura and Islay.
