Have an eggcellent Easter

We’re hopping with eggcitement this Easter, as we take a look at all of the fun to be had in and around the forest. If you’re planning a family break, we’ve got all the information you need for a truly eggcellent Easter eggstravaganza.

From egg hunts to eggsplorations, film nights in and fun days out, Easter baking and chocolate tasting, we’ve put together a list of fun things for you to enjoy on your Easter break. Which means you don’t need to worry about missing out and can concentrate on the most important gift of all this Easter – time with your family.

Easter Egg Hunts

Every child loves an Easter Egg hunt – and plenty of adults too. Luckily for us, the Easter bunny has been busy this year, spreading delicious Cadburys chocolate around 250 National Trust properties in the UK. That means there is plenty of hunting for everyone, including locations like The Hill House near Ardgartan Argyll, the magical gardens of Ickworth House near Thorpe Forest and the flower filled meadows of Nunnington Hall near Cropton and Keldy.

Egg rolling on the Easter Eggspress

Meet the Easter bunny himself on Monday 2 April as you take a ride on a traditional steam train to Winchcombe Station in Gloucestershire. Join in the egg and spoon race, crafting and some Easter egg rolling, and don’t forget your Easter bonnet – there’s a prize for the best. Just an hour away from our Forest of Dean location, the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway is a firm family favourite, with plenty of activities to fill your day at any time of year.

Cracking Easter Adventure

If you are heading down to Deerpark with younger children you’ll love the two weeks of Easter excitement at Camel Creek Adventure Park, including a Golden Egg Hunt and exclusive appearances from Peppa Pig and Titan the Robot.

Eggsplore Eden

We know families love visiting the Eden Project, and this Easter there’s even more going on during a special three week Easter programme.

There’ll be a daily Egg hunt, a scramble across the assault course and plenty more games to play and prizes to win. Young eggsplorers will love discovering the biomes and tackling the canopy walkway, while older children will love the eggcitement of the zip wire or new 360 swing. After a day of adventure, you’ll be able to relax in the hot tub of your luxury cabin in the forest at Deerpark.

Cedric’s Chocolate Bunny Burrow

There’s another chance to meet the Easter bunny at BeWILDerwood, in Norfolk, in his own luxurious new bunny burrow, filled with confectionary and home comforts. Children will have a fun filled day exploring the treehouses, and getting creative making their own bunny ears.

Then hop on back to your cabin at Thorpe Forest and try mixing up your own delicious chocolate pizza in the Forest Retreat.

A day out with Thomas

Who wouldn’t want to meet Thomas the Tank Engine and the Fat Controller? With unlimited rides behind Thomas and lots of fun on the miniature railway, swing boat rides and story corners, this is a fantastic day out for the family at the Watercress Line in Hampshire.

If you’re feeling a little more creative, create some delicious Easter nests, bake a decadent chocolate fudge Easter cake or toast some hot cross buns in your fully equipped kitchen at Blackwood Forest.

Easter Bunny Trail

The troublesome bunnies have been hiding decorated eggs around Rufford Country Park, and you’re invited to track them down to win your own chocolaty treat. It’s just a short hop away from our Sherwood Forest cabins.

Easter in the forest

You don’t have to go far to enjoy some Easter eggsploration on a Forest Holiday. There’s plenty to do in the forest at each of our locations, from Strathyre in Scotland to Deerpark in Cornwall. Set off on a family adventure, equipped with map and trail pack, and discover the hidden clues to uncover the prize on our Easter Trail. Pop into the Forest Retreat to enjoy chocolate pizza making, paint your own Easter bunny or chick, or decorate an Easter wreath with beautiful flowers and feathers.

Finally, after a day of discovery, settle back with your chocolate trove, put your feet up and enjoy some Easter family films. We love Peter Rabbit or Hop for plenty of laughs. You don’t even have to worry about dinner as we’ll deliver pizza and ice cream to your cabin for the perfect movie night.

Book your Easter break at any of our locations now – with a fabulous choice of cabins there’s plenty of room for the whole family – and you’ll soon be waking up to morning sunshine and birdsong in the forest.
