Honeymoon, minimoon, babymoon – it’s a moon boom!

There is much excitement about moons in autumn, with supermoons and blood moons, Harvest and Hunters’ moons. But it’s moons of a different sort that have been causing a stir at Forest Holidays – honeymoons, babymoons and minimoons.

Moons are appearing everywhere just lately. Our holidays have always been a popular choice for honeymoons but we noticed a trend starting a couple of years ago for minimoons – a short break, just after the wedding but before or instead of the big honeymoon.

This year there’s a new moon – babymoon, which is a break for mum-to-be with her partner or friends before the baby is born.

And the very latest is buddymoon, which is like a honeymoon but your mates come with you…

…hmm, not sure about that one.

Honeymoon Heaven

The honeymoon is still the most popular of them all. Honeymoon is an old English term thought to refer to the fact that the first month of marriage is the sweetest of all. Over time it came to mean the trip or holiday that a couple takes immediately after getting married.

If you are honeymooning in the forest, opt for a romantic Golden Oak Hideaway for two. Enjoy a cosy lounge and a double bedroom, a huge sunken bath with views of the forest, a hot tub and hammock on the decking and lots of special little surprises guaranteed to fit with your romantic mood.

You can hide away in your Golden Oak Hideaway, enjoy a Happy Honeymoon package including fresh flowers and Laurent Perrier champagne, and never go further than your hot tub. Or you can take romantic walks in the forest, visit fairy-tale castles and eat out together in local restaurants.

Minimoon Magic

Perhaps your big holiday is not possible until later, or you have children you can only leave for a few days, or you simply want somewhere to wind down immediately after your wedding. A minimoon is the very least you deserve.

Choose a Golden Oak Hideaway cabin and enjoy a well-earned rest with no one to please but yourselves; a few sweet days of relaxation and romance. Hire our in-cabin chef for a special meal for two, go on the Night Vision walk with the Forest Ranger to spot owls, foxes and other forest nightlife, curl up on the sofa with a romantic movie and a box of popcorn or enjoy a glass of champagne as you gaze at the stars from your outdoor hot tub. A three or four-night break will feel as good as a two week holiday.

Babymoon Bliss

Fancy a little getaway before the patter of those tiny feet? The forest offers you the space to relax and unwind with your partner or close friends before the little one arrives – it’s a great excuse to spend some quality time together. Who knows, after all, when your next chance to chill out will be?

Copper Beech cabins are comfortable if a hot tub isn’t advisable, or if it’s a romantic getaway you’re after, choose a Golden Oak Hideaway cabin. Pamper yourselves with an in-cabin spa treatment, go for gentle walks in the forest, enjoy breakfasts, coffee and cakes or luscious hot chocolate at the Forest Retreat. When the sun drops into the quiet night of the forest, relax in your bed and sleep for a full 8 hours – a luxury you will look back on wistfully.
