The Longest Day in the Forest

As the summer days lengthen, we take a tour of our forest locations and their surrounding areas to get a snapshot of how the longest day of the year looks and feels.

We present a day in the life of Britain, in fact the longest day in the life of Britain, and we hope that our gallery makes you feel as we do, that, when the sun shines, there is nowhere better for a holiday than our beautiful Island.

5.00am: Deerpark in Cornwall. First light over Polperro Harbour, before our guests at nearby Deerpark are even awake…

8.00am: Ardgartan Argyll in Scotland. The sun creeps over Arrochar Alps at the head of Loch Long, viewed from the cabins at Ardgartan Argyll….

10.00am: Strathyre in Scotland. Out for a lochside cycle ride along the old Strathyre railway route…

12.00pm: Thorpe Forest in Norfolk. Midday at the seaside in Southwold, just over an hour’s drive from Thorpe Forest. Only mad dogs and Englishmen…

2.00pm: The Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire. Time for a family picnic in the meadow at our Forest of Dean location…

5.00pm: Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire. Back to your forest cabin, hidden away in the tall pines of Sherwood Forest, for a late afternoon rest – or perhaps a dip in the hot tub enjoying the sights and sounds of summer around you...

7.00pm: Cropton in North Yorkshire. Make the most of the longest day with an al fresco supper, Quick, grab that table and enjoy the lush and verdant views of Cropton Forest…

9.00pm: Keldy in North Yorkshire. The sun sets over Whitby Bay; too late for the last steam train back to Pickering near Keldy, but worth the drive…

11.00pm: Blackwood Forest in Hampshire. It’s not over yet! Searching out the Blackwood Forest nightlife on a Night Vision walk with the Forest Ranger...

Did you enjoy our midsummer tour? There are still cabins available throughout the summer at our locations and so many ways to fill those long - and hopefully sunny – days. Book your cabin today and remind yourself, if you need to, that this country of ours is something special.
