Everything you need for the perfect holiday

Comprising 35 well-spaced luxury forest cabins, stretching along the western shore of Loch Lubnaig, our Strathyre cabin site is idyllic. Choose a luxurious Golden Oak or Silver Birch cabin to secure a hot tub, or a well-appointed Copper Beech cabin without hot tub. The heart of our site at Strathyre is the Forest Retreat where you’ll find many amenities, including the children’s play area and a laundry room. At the Forest Retreat you can also meet the Forest Ranger, book activities and hire bikes.

Meet the Pine Martens

Strathyre's secret guests

We have some long-term guests at Strathyre and their antics are keeping our guests entertained. Pine martens are a rare native species, which are almost extinct in England and Wales. They are about the size of a domestic cat and from the same family as the Badger and Weasel. We have had regular sighting of them and guests have even begun to keep a diary of their activities. Strathyre is perfect for a Scottish wildlife holiday and, as well as our pine martens, you may see golden eagles, red squirrels, red deer and more.

The central hub of the Strathyre location

The Forest Retreat is the heart of our Strathyre location and has all you need to make your holiday special. The friendly reception team will to book activities for you and offer help and advice. You’ll be able to enjoy freshly cooked meals and snacks in the comfortable café, and relax with a drink at the bar. There is also the Forest Retreat shop, supplying everyday essentials, holiday luxuries and souvenirs.

Discover the secrets of the forest

Your Forest Ranger will introduce you to a world of woodland secrets. Learn how to identify animal tracks; take a dusk expedition, or head off and explore the forest by night, using Night Vision glasses. During the day there are lots of exciting activities for children, which will teach them all about the forest while ensuring that they have lots of fun too. Your Forest Ranger activities can be booked when you book your cabin break or at the Forest Retreat, but remember they can often become fully booked.

Cycle through the forest

Nothing beats the feeling of freedom that you experience cycling through the forest; whether it’s a family jaunt, heading for a hidden picnic spot, or a high-adrenalin mountain bike challenge through demanding forest terrain. Save yourself the job of loading up the bikes and, instead, hire your bikes when you book your holiday online. Bike hire is available at the Forest Retreat, including child bikes, tag-alongs, trailers and child seats, and of course helmets, but we advise pre-booking.

Fancy a spot of loch fishing with the Scottish mountains as your back drop? Our Strathyre cabins are set on the edge of Loch Lubnaig at the foot of Ben Ledi. Approximately 4 miles long, Loch Lubnaig is perfect for a peaceful afternoon of fishing if you are staying with us at Strathyre. A pristine freshwater loch, fishing highlights include salmon, brown trout, char or perch. There is also pike fishing at the west end of the loch.  Fishing is free for Forest Holidays guests and is permitted every day apart from Sundays during the fishing season and you can sit on the bank or take out a boat.
