At Forest Holidays our commitment to protecting and enhancing the forest is second to none, so we are thrilled to have been rewarded for our natural ethos having been named ‘best eco/sustainable holiday for families’ at the 2016 Family Traveller Awards.

With more than 1,600 initial nominations for family-friendly businesses, 309 nominees were shortlisted across the categories and put to a public vote. A phenomenal 18,000 votes were cast by Family Traveller magazine readers and finally a panel of experts helped choose the winners.

Forest Holidays was recognised for its bespoke cabin concept, which minimises impact on the forest and its inhabitants, as well as its commitment to connecting people, nature and local communities.

Bruce McKendrick, Chief Executive Officer at Forest Holidays, said: "We're delighted that Forest Holidays has been voted the favourite eco/sustainable holiday for families. As a partner of the Forestry Commission, our nine locations are based exclusively on the Public Forest Estate and it is important to us that all of our luxury cabins are built putting the environment first, retaining and enhancing the woodland, its wildlife and their habitats.

“Our cabin breaks allow families to relax or be as active as they wish in a wonderful forest setting and to enjoy a real close-up opportunity to spend quality time outdoors in a natural environment and of course to sleep in the forest.”

Andrew Dent, CEO and Publisher of Family Traveller Magazine said: “I would like to congratulate all of the winners and the runners-up of the Family Traveller Awards. Since launching the awards in 2015, we have increased the number of nominations, votes and categories to recognise all of the main sectors within the family travel market. With over 18,000 votes, we are proud to have identified the true leaders in family travel.”
