Forest summer school launches in Beddgelert

Forest summer school launches in Beddgelert 7 August 2019

Playing outside is a fundamental part of childhood. It helps children to grow up healthily; it makes them familiar with the natural environment around them - and it’s great fun too! To give more local children the freedom to explore and be inspired, we’ve launched a 5-week Forest Summer School at our location in Beddgelert.

Our resident Forest Ranger, Sara, is delivering a new outdoor learning experience each week. Opportunities to explore woodland sounds and textures, learn about the habitats that give our wildlife a home, build dens and shelters – and of course some good old muddy fun and fresh air! Every session follows a lesson plan to ensure that there are clear learning objectives and there’s lots of opportunity for physical development, from finding different ways of moving to balancing and climbing. We have a dedicated Forest Ranger at each of our 10 locations, all of whom support their local communities.

Numbers are growing each week and we’ve also opened up the sessions to our guests. "In a generation of tech savvy children, we sometimes forget that our natural surroundings are unexplored playgrounds and are right on our doorstep. Sara is engaging local children with outdoor learning that is fun and interactive. More importantly, we are pleased to support our local community and surrounding areas by offering something different for young people to do in the summer" says General Manager, Richard Bosworth.
