Last month three of our directors hit the road on their 2019 Road Trip, visiting each of our 11 locations (including our Derbyshire-based Support Centre), and connecting with our people. Our CEO, Bruce, Commercial Director, Alex, and Andrew, our Operations Director, started their 2,380 mile journey at our Sherwood Forest location on 6 March, and concluded their trip at Thorpe Forest on 14 March. The tour focused on the reason we exist, to create authentic experiences in Britain’s amazing forests; connecting people, nature and local communities. They also took the opportunity to speak to our teams at length, to find out what Forest Holidays means to them and get their ideas on how we shape our plans for the future.

To really start to get to know the teams, Bruce shared some background on his own life, reaffirming his own beliefs, and what drives him to spread the word of what Forest Holidays stands for, our purpose. He said "Connecting people, nature, and local rural communities is the reason we exist. Breathing life and prosperity into those communities is fundamental to our business, in particular for young people who live there."

Alex, who recently joined the business, shared his thoughts about putting our guests at the centre of everything we do, which also includes getting valuable insights from our teams. The Sales and Marketing team will be looking at ways we can use guest feedback to shape the products we offer already and the development of new products. He has said "…having been in the business only four months, the 2019 Road Trip was a fantastic opportunity to visit all Forest Holidays locations and meet all our team members for the first time. I was hugely impressed by the quality of the product and the commitment, dedication, and hard work shown by our teams across the UK. I enjoyed listening to how our team members put the Forest Holidays guest at the centre of everything they do and listening to views and ideas on new and exciting initiatives we can develop going forward."

Andrew, who joined the business in February 2015, spoke about our people and why they are important in helping our guests enjoy authentic experiences in Britain’s forest. 96% of our guests have told us that they will stay with us again within the next five years and this is testament to all the incredible hard work of our team members. Andrew further added "…we get great feedback from our teams about working at Forest Holidays, and we want to ensure we retain as many good people as possible. It is my absolute priority over the coming months and years to build a stronger, committed, well trained team that are aligned to our purpose and values; this is absolutely critical to achieving our goals. I have been very proud during the roadshows to see the levels of enthusiasm out there from the teams, this is a great start!"

As a result of the 2019 Road Trip, our senior leadership team will be working with representatives from each of our 11 locations to enhance our current culture and working environment; allowing each and every team member to reach their full potential.

Our people are at the heart of all we do and are helping us shape our plans for the future. If you would like to join our team, you can discover our latest opportunities on our careers website.
