We understand how vital it is for our guests to feel safe and secure when they’re book with us. That’s why we’re proud to display Quality in Tourism’s Safe, Clean & Legal™ badge for their peace of mind.

Why is the Safe, Clean & Legal badge important?

Post-pandemic, this accreditation is now more relevant than ever.

The latest studies show nearly 80% of potential guests expect accommodation providers to have an independent accreditation of their standards, with 64% expecting the accreditation to include an independent inspection.

Safe, Clean & Legal is great because their checks are annual, robust and objective and it’s this impartiality that makes the initiative so strong.

How does the Safe, Clean & Legal badge work?

The Quality in Tourism Safe, Clean & Legal badge is for holiday providers who want to:

  • demonstrate their commitment to standards
  • make it clear to guests they’ve met all the necessary standards
  • reassure guests these standards have been inspected by an independent third party

Before awarding the badge, Quality and Tourism’s assessors ensure that businesses have the correct documentation and checks in place (for everything from fire safety to food safety) confirming that the accommodation meets or exceeds minimum standards.

A badge now recognised by Which? Travel

The Safe, Clean & Legal scheme has also been recognised by Which? Travel for its detailed application process and third-party inspections.

Deborah Heather, Director of Quality in Tourism says, “Part of the development of the Safe, Clean & Legal scheme was to reassure guests that their stay was safe.”

“Originally focused on the sharing economy to highlight responsible operators, we updated the scheme earlier this year in line with COVID-19 guidance.”

“We believe that each and every property should be inspected and are...delighted that Which? Travel, has recognised the quality of our scheme and the support we offer to the operators in order to navigate the changing requirements.”
