We all know what spending a few hours outside can do for our wellbeing, helping us feel refreshed and relaxed.

That feeling links to nostalgia – reminiscing those summers spent playing outside and holidays filled with fresh air and freedom.

We may not be able to remember all our outdoor memories – but those connections to nature were built from an early age. To help get your tiniest explorers emersed in the natural world, here’s 5 wild ways you can play outside this summer:

  1. Sensory adventures
Take in all the sights, sounds and smells of nature around you. Set a challenge to see how many you can uncover together!
  2. Get messy
The messier the better! Water and mud can be the simplest ingredients for some of the best outdoor kitchen play creations.
  3. A whole new world
From building dens for mini beasts to creating homes for fairies – using your imagination is a great way to spark curiosity with the natural world.
  4. Hunt for treasure
Set up a mini scavenger hunt with feathers, stones, acorns... the list of wild objects is endless, and can be adapted for any age.
  5. Never ending story time
Let imagination lead the way and create stories inspired by nature. The stage is yours!

We’re teaming up with HarperCollins Children’s Books to help turn memories into lifelong connections to nature. Our Forest Rangers know exactly how to bring the secrets of their forest to life, and this summer they’ll be introducing your Little Wild Ones to a brand-new story from bestselling author Nick Butterworth, about the much-loved Percy the Park Keeper and his animal friends in Once Upon A Journey.

Whether you’re in the forest or in the garden at home, we invite you to join us on a journey through nature. Adventure is waiting!
