Whether it’s for a special occasion or it’s simply a holiday treat, this is a meal that memories are made of.

From breakfast snacks to cosy evening meals

Meals, drinks and snacks are served all day at our Forest Retreat and Forest Hub. From sausage and bacon sandwiches or a full British breakfast in the morning, to delicious lunch-time meals, to tea and cakes in the afternoon, enjoy relaxed and friendly service with a view of the forest. And, after a busy day exploring the forest, forget cooking in your cabin and drop into the Forest Retreat for an easy evening meal.

The Forest Retreat at Ardgartan Argyll

The light and airy dining area is surrounded by windows on three sides. Whether you are sitting indoors or out on the terrace, you will feel close to this natural environment as you enjoy your food and drinks. And, after an early evening meal, you can take a wander along the loch as the sun sets.

The Forest Retreat at Blackwood Forest

A welcoming café and bar with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, the Forest Retreat at Blackwood Forest is the perfect place to rest your legs and enjoy good, locally sourced food. It has some delightfully quirky design features and a picture window that opens out on to the terrace for summer dining.

The Forest Retreat at Cropton

The Forest Retreat at Cropton is one of our largest. Drop in to enjoy a meal or a drink in the spacious café area, which is entirely separate from the shop and reception. When you come in from the cold, the cosy log burner is a welcome sight and here you can while away an afternoon in relaxed comfort.

The Forest Hub at Deerpark

Set in the shade of the forest, the recently upgraded Forest Hub at Deerpark is a warm and welcoming eatery and bar, where you can relax and enjoy a wide range of options, including 100% Cornish beef burgers and, of course, a Cornish cream tea. The bar and dining area is separate from the shop and reception and the interior design is fresh and modern.

The Forest Retreat at Forest of Dean

There’s plenty of room in the bright and airy café for when the holiday spirit dictates no cooking. Enjoy the friendly buzz and choose from a range of local ciders and beers to complement your meal. When the weather is warm, sit out on the large, split level terrace while the children visit the neighbouring Bug Hotel and play area.

The Forest Hub at Keldy

Drop into the friendly eatery for meals, snacks, or well-deserved drinks after your forest adventures. With comfortable, modern furniture, a cosy central log burner, and friendly, relaxed service you’ll find it hard to leave.

The Forest Retreat at Sherwood Forest

The bustling café and bar, where you can enjoy freshly cooked meals throughout the day, has a view out over the meadow and into the pine forest. Choose from local gourmet burgers, sharing platters and stone baked pizzas, or indulge in a delicious cream tea while the children play in the play area, close to the outdoor terrace.

The Forest Retreat at Strathyre

A place to sit and contemplate nature, the Forest Retreat at Strathyre has a cosy dining area with a central log burner and views over Loch Lubnaig. As you tuck into your Scottish fayre, watch the chaffinches and great tits hop around the feeders outside, enjoying their own little feast.

The Forest Hub at Thorpe Forest

Pop by the newly renovated café at the Forest Retreat anytime of the day for snacks, meals, cakes and coffee. Watch as the children burn off their energy in the play area, whilst you sit on the outdoor decking for a beer in the sunshine, with birdsong all around you.

You can order tasty meals, treats and drinks for delivery to your cabin!

You can order food from the Forest Retreat or Forest Hub to be delivered directly to your cabin. If the weather is on the wild side or you simply don’t feel like making too much effort, you can point the remote at the TV, or download our new app, and order a takeaway. Pizzas, burgers, curries and more are all on the menu for a relaxing night in. You can even pre-order special packages such as a Pizza Night Pack, complete with drinks and garlic bread.

Cook up a feast with fresh, local ingredients

There are so many options for cooking in your cabin. Pour yourself a glass of wine, and if you are staying in a Golden Oak cabin, fire up the gas barbecue for an al fresco feast. Make life easy by pre-ordering one of our special barbecue packs, with tasty local burgers and sausages.

If cooking is your pleasure, cook from scratch using fresh local ingredients and other essential ingredients from the Forest Retreat. Better still, pre-order our fresh fruit, salad and veg boxes and create something special. Try these Jamie Oliver recipes, or if you have a sweeter tooth, how about some delicious pancake recipes?

If you are having a cosy night in but want to keep the cooking to a minimum, reach for the premium frozen meals in the freezer section at the Forest Retreat. These high quality, hand-prepared main meals are just the job for a special supper. With a wide range of mouthwatering main courses, these are memorable meals, fit for a holiday table.

From award-winning butchers and bakers to welcoming country pubs, our locations are surrounded by opportunities to enjoy the local cuisine. And our team at the Forest Retreat are happy to let you into the secrets of where to go for the best food and drink, from fish and chips to fine dining.

In your cabin, you’ll find a card telling you how to find out about nearby attractions, including places to eat and drink. We have also plotted nearby pubs and restaurants for each location on Google Maps, so that you can have a night off from the kitchen and enjoy a taste of the region.

Our Good to Go is perfect for a picnic or a packed lunch when you are going out for the day. Choose from a range of freshly prepared sandwiches and wraps, crisps and fruit, and, of course, sweet snacks to keep your energy levels up.

There’s a great choice at the Forest Retreat, so that everyone in your family or group can choose something to look forward to on your lunch stop, whether you are halfway up a mountain or sitting on a bench beside the river.

Your cabin is equipped with everything you'll need

Your cabin is fully equipped with everything you need to enjoy your holiday meals. Whether you are conjuring up pasta for friends or a three-course Sunday lunch for the family, you will love the open plan kitchen. With everything from a pizza cutter to the all-important corkscrew, plentiful tableware and naturally, a dishwasher, all you need think about is your ingredients.

We stock all the essentials and some of the little luxuries in the Forest Retreat and we’ll let you know where the best local shops are. You might even decide to do a little woodland foraging to enjoy the true flavour of forest life, but always check with your Forest Ranger if you're unsure whether something is safe to eat.
