Tune into the Get Birding Podcast

Hosted by acclaimed actor Sean Bean, we’re proud to be collaborating with the Get Birding podcast for its latest series.

Across all 13 of our locations, we are lucky enough to spot a variety of different birds throughout the year. With birdwatching being a popular activity for our guests, and a great way to spend much needed time outdoors – we couldn’t be more excited to collaborate with the Get Birding podcast.

Produced by Peanut & Crumb, each episode is recorded outdoors to help us learn more about the birds outside our windows. Their aim is to make birdwatching and nature accessible, joyful and meaningful for everyone.

The new, always-on series of Get Birding has launched this week, with Sean Bean taking over as host, as a passionate birder himself.

Sean, known for his starring roles in the likes of The Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones, has swapped the silver screen for the hosting seat: “It might come as a surprise to many people, but I was a keen birder as a teenager, and spent many happy hours seeing what I could spot around my home in Sheffield.”

“In a busy world, birdwatching is a brilliant way to connect with nature and relax and I am excited to pick up my binoculars and go on this adventure with the Get Birding community - from the seasoned birders, to the bird-curious.”

As well as hearing about Sean’s birding adventures, original host Dr Mya-Rose Craig (also known as Birdgirl) will be guiding Sean through ‘how to’ sessions on the likes of birdfeeders and looking after birds in the cold. The young, established ornithologist commented:

“It’s a real privilege to be working with Sean Bean in this latest series of Get Birding; he is such an icon and comes with a completely different set of knowledge and experience to me. I am a big believer that birding should be accessible to everyone, no matter your age, experience, or where you live, and I’m keen to see as wide an audience as possible tuning in and getting involved.”

We can’t wait to see what Sean and Mya get up to in this series. With episodes dropping fortnightly, you'll learn plenty of how-to birding tips, listen to poetry and birdsong of the week with sound artist Jason Singh - and possibly hear a thing or two from our Forest Rangers!

Slow down, look up, and tune in...
