Aaron loves connecting with visitors whilst leading Forest Survival and Ugly Bug Hunt activities. He enjoys sharing his knowledge and creating memorable experiences, from helping children overcome their fears to carrying out ecological surveys in the forest. What is your fun forest fact?
Delamere is the largest single area of woodland in Cheshire, and is home to the Black Lake, a unique SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest).
Rarest wildlife sighting at Delamere?
Although they are considered common in the UK, we do have a pair of Buzzards in the area that even though I tend to hear them every day, I don’t always spot them. Their calls carry through the air and are one of the more distinct sounds of Delamere Forest. Another bird that I have only spotted once is a woodpecker, my head was turned when I heard it at work high up in the trees and stuck around to catch a glimpse.
