Our cabins at Thorpe Forest comprise of 63 cabins in an idyllic leafy setting beside the River Thet, deep in the Norfolk countryside. When you arrive on-location your first stop will be the Forest Retreat, where you can discover what’s on, find out about the local area, book activities, hire bikes, and meet the Forest Ranger. Pick up essentials in the shop or enjoy a bite to eat in the cosy café. There is also an exciting outdoor play area for the children.
Stop by the Forest Retreat, the heart of Thorpe Forest, where our friendly team are on hand to offer help and advice to ensure you make the most of your break. Here you can meet our friendly team, who will help you make the most of your holiday. Housed in a cabin-style building, you’ll find a well-stocked shop with all the essentials, a comfortable seating area and bar and restaurant serving good food all day.
Our restaurant at Thorpe Forest is open from 9am for all-day dining. Choose from breakfast, brunch, small plates or British classics, with draught beers, cocktails and a full wine list to complement your meal. With an outdoor seating area, it’s just the spot to sit back and enjoy the sights and sounds of the forest.
We also offer a takeaway menu, so you can have your favourites delivered to enjoy in the comfort of your cabin. Simply pop in and order with us or place an online order from your cabin. Then sit back while we take care of the cooking and deliver your meal right to your cabin door.
In the shop at Thorpe Forest, you will find all the essentials you need during your stay, from essential groceries to souvenirs to take home. We sell a range of groceries, toiletries, beverages and of course souvenirs to remind you of your forest adventure. Please note that our usual opening times are 9am – 8pm.

There are two vehicle charging points available on location at Thorpe Forest. These can be found outside the Forest Retreat.
Do not use extension leads to charge your vehicle from a cabin socket - this is not permitted as it can cause fires, circuit overload and loss of power to your cabin or the entire location.

Bike hire is available at Thorpe Forest, please visit the Forest Retreat and speak to a member of the team or add to your booking through your online account so you can collect your bikes at check-in and head off straight from your cabin. Most of the trails close by Thorpe Forest are ideal for cycling. These vary from a gentle 1.4km, up to 25km. The Green Shepherd Trail is perfect for families with lots of room to learn, with 8km of mostly flat and level terrain.
There is a children’s play area available at Thorpe Forest, but please bear in mind that children must always be supervised by an adult.
At Thorpe Forest there is a bug hotel, attracting lots of bugs and insects. This means they can pollinate our flowers and keep unwanted pests to a minimum like aphids and slugs.
Step from your cabin and explore the local area with one of our recommended self-led trails, which you can pick up from the Forest Retreat. Take the little ones on a 1.4km Junior Toddle around the cabin location, then build up to the 4.3km Forestry England walk. For those seeking a more challenging route, spend an afternoon on the 13.2km Middle Walk or set out for a day on the 45km Long Walk, which takes in forest, river, country roads, and four National Trails.
