Cropton is a picturesque location in North Yorkshire with 58 woodland cabins situated in a grassy meadow, enclosed by the leafy woodlands of Cropton Forest. Beneath the trees are Silver Birch, Golden Oak, and Golden Oak Hideaway cabins, as well as the Forest Retreat, where you can shop, eat, drink, and meet the team! There is also an outdoor seating area with picnic benches and a children’s play area.
At the heart of our Cropton location is the Forest Retreat. The team are on-hand to book your activities, answer questions, and offer advice to help you make the most of your holiday. Housed in an old stone building, you’ll find a well-stocked shop with all the essentials, a comfortable seating area and bar and restaurant serving good food all day.
Our restaurant at Cropton is open from 9am for all-day dining. Choose from breakfast, brunch, small plates or British classics, with draught beers, cocktails and a full wine list to complement your meal. With an outdoor seating area, it’s just the spot to sit back and enjoy the sights and sounds of the forest.
We also offer a takeaway menu, so you can have your favourites delivered to enjoy in the comfort of your cabin. Simply pop in and order with us or place an online order from your cabin. Then sit back while we take care of the cooking and deliver your meal right to your cabin door.
In the shop at Cropton, you will find all the essentials you need during your stay, from essential groceries to souvenirs to take home. We sell a range of groceries, toiletries, beverages and of course souvenirs to remind you of your forest adventure. Please note that our usual opening times are 9am – 8:00pm (08.30am - 8pm on Mondays & Fridays).

There are two vehicle charging points available on location at Cropton. These can be found outside the Forest Retreat.
Do not use extension leads to charge your vehicle from a cabin socket - this is not permitted as it can cause fires, circuit overload and loss of power to your cabin or the entire location.

Your Forest Ranger has a wealth of interesting and entertaining forest facts and is on location at Cropton from dawn ‘til dusk and beyond, to share them with you. You can join in the Forest Ranger adventures, or simply have a chat, to learn about life in the forest from the expert. There is a full schedule of Forest Ranger adventures, including treasure hunts and Night Vision walks, which will delight children and adults alike.
There is a children’s play area available at Cropton, but please bear in mind that children must always be supervised by an adult.

Drop into the Forest Retreat at Cropton to find out about our self-led trails; some are themed and great for family walks. Or try the Rosedale trail, a 3-mile loop with views of Rosedale, Hartoft Valley, and the distant moors. For the more experienced walkers try the longer 10-mile loop offering great views and a variety of landscapes. For a more challenging walk, the Newtondale trail is a 14-mile hike, with a rewarding vista over the dales.
