Our job is to make sure that you enjoy every moment of your holiday. From the big welcome at the Forest Retreat and the infectious enthusiasm of your Forest Ranger, to the caring touches that make your cabin feel like home, the team at Cropton will help to bring about that holiday magic.

The Cropton site is now led by Graeme Dudding, who has come up through the ranks at Forest Holidays from Site Assistant to Forest Ranger, before his current role. His previous management experience was in the hospitality industry and his can do attitude made him a perfect candidate to take on more responsibility.

You’ll find everything you need to make your holiday special in the Forest Retreat at the heart of our Cropton site. Here, the team are on hand to book activities, answer your questions, and offer help and advice. Eat freshly cooked meals and snacks in the warm, inviting café, relax in the comfortable bar, and buy anything from essential groceries to special gifts at the Forest Retreat shop.

Relax and unwind or get active

Whether you want to relax in the hot tub or hire a bike and explore the Moors; you are free to choose and do both if you wish here at Cropton. Try something different during your stay to make it even more memorable such as clay pigeon shooting, pony trekking or even flying lessons!

You are spoilt for choice with the nearby attractions; visit the city of York and explore its quaint narrow streets steeped in history; have a family fun-filled day at Flamingo Land or a good old fashioned day trip to the seaside town of Scarborough.

Bring the forest to life

Your Forest Ranger has a wealth of interesting and entertaining forest facts and is on site at Cropton from dawn ‘til dusk and beyond, to share them with you. You can join in the Forest Ranger activities, or simply have a chat, to learn about life in the forest from the expert. There is a full schedule of Forest Ranger activities, including treasure hunts and Night Vision walks, which will delight children and adults alike.
