Fun things to do in Beddgelert North Wales: revealed

In the heart of a secluded woodland glade, surrounded by the majesty of Snowdonia National park, lies our Beddgelert location. With tumbling rivers, thick forests and panoramic views of the welsh countryside, it makes for a welcome retreat from the everyday humdrum.

Beddgelert is known for its heritage and history. It’s also a top destination for adventure holidays in the UK thanks to its challenging terrain. This means if you’re on the hunt for fun things to do in North Wales, it’s going to be tricky to fit everything into one short break.

To help you make the most of your holiday in Beddgelert North Wales, we’ve put together a selection of our top tips for exploring this incredible part of the country.

Embrace your environment

While we imagine a family holiday to be all barbecues and long days on the beach, the weather often has other ideas. Luckily, there’s more than a few spots to keep everyone entertained with no damp spirits in sight.

Beacon Climbing Centre

If you’re over raincoats and wellies, head indoors to the Beacon Climbing Centre. Just 30 minutes away from our Beddgelert location. Conquer the climbing wall, beat the CrazyClimb challenge or dare to ascend the high roped walls. Perfect for burning off extra energy or even switching up your normal gym routine.

Glasfryn Parc Activity Centre

Go-karting, archery, crazy golf, water sports and more. Glasfryn Parc has 11 outdoor and indoor activities for everyone to tackle. On a drizzly day you can take advantage of bowling and soft play while sunny afternoons are made for their hilarious crash’n’splash aquapark. All a 40 minute drive from Beddgelert.

Go Below

Why not shelter from rain by going below ground at a pulse-jumping location just 40 minutes away? Unlike other caving experiences, Go Below can be visited in all weathers and avoids tight spaces and uncomfortable squeezing.

Instead it focuses on helping you discover the secrets of the abandoned mines through personal expert-led tours. This exceptional subterranean experience is definitely one of the more unusual things to do in North Wales. A must-visit.

Create an unforgettable adventure

From zip wire experiences and paintballing to thrilling roller coasters, planning a group trip in Beddgelert couldn’t be easier. And if you’re looking for fun things to do in North Wales with kids, your itinerary is going to be chock-full of adventures.

Mount Snowdon

Kickstart your adrenaline with a visit to England and Wales’ highest mountain. Mount Snowdon is a super speedy 17 minute drive from Beddgelert so all you need to do is pack a lunch and hit one of the six trails to the top. Or indulge in a more leisurely stroll around the unspoilt landscape.

Greenwood Park

Offering everything from solar powered rides to visits from Cbeebies characters, Greenwood Park is only 30 minutes away. Mini explorers can try their hand at archery, take a trip on the famous Green Dragon Roller Coaster or even bounce around on a giant pillow. We’re not kidding.

Dragon Raiders

This epic activity centre is ideal for family outings or group trips. Boasting quad bikes, paintballing and forest segway packages, Dragon Riders is an awesome day out to book before you arrive so you don’t miss out.

Zip World

If flying through the forest is your thing, near to Beddgelert there are three different Zip World locations. Our favourite is Zip World Slate Caverns which has a seriously cool underground challenge as well as above ground experiences for the entire family.

Enjoy a roaring good time

As well as its native wildlife, North Wales is home to a number of other animal escapades. Whether you want to become a zoo keeper for a day or feed animals on the farm, there’s loads of places to get wild.

Welsh Mountain Zoo

Animal experiences don’t come more exciting than a day out at the Welsh Mountain Zoo -  home to tigers, alligators, snow leopards and amazing zoo keeper experiences. This is a great place to get closer to nature by meeting some of the most important creatures on our planet. And it’s under an hour away from our Beddgelert location. Win.

Anglesey Sea Zoo

Underwater creatures more your vibe? The kelp forests and weirdly wonderful jellyfish displays of Anglesey Sea Zoo. Listen in on talks from expert marine biologists, get involved with feeding displays and wander through the aquarium to see what you can discover.

Pili Palas

A tropical wonderland you can visit in all seasons, Pili Palas Nature World is an indoor jungle environment just 35 minutes away from your cosy cabin awaiting you. Watch butterflies dance around you, meet a macaw parrot and see if you can spot Billy the 6ft python. Then venture outside on a nature trail or head to the miniature farm just in time for feeding.
