Don't just take our word for it - a wonderful family have shared their experience of a stay at Ardgartan Argyll. Discover what Amy had to say below...
"We have just returned from a fantastic weekend break at Ardgartan Argyll where we stayed in a Silver Birch wheelchair adapted cabin. We booked this after my husband's father sadly passed away so we needed a nice break away. My brother-in-law has muscular dystrophy so sometimes going away for the weekend can be more stressful than staying at home due to his limited mobility and his need for comfort and routine. However, our break away this time was so relaxing and really felt like a holiday. When we arrived, we were welcomed and shown to our cabin. The cabin at Ardgartan Argyll is situated directly next to the Forest Retreat, which made it very easy to go to the quiz on Saturday evening (we lost on the second tie breaker question!).Our cabin was immaculate when we arrived and had everything we needed for self-catering including: pots, pans, microwave etc. The kitchen was also lowered at the hob and sink, and the oven was also at wheelchair level for wheelchair access. The cabin was laid out on one level making it easy to manoeuvre the wheelchair but also gave my brother-in-law a choice of bedrooms rather than 'whatever is easier'. This is a huge difference for him as sometimes choice isn't always available for disabled people as there is generally only one option i.e. disabled access then everyone else's access which can feel like it's highlighting a difference.
Sometimes choice isn't always available for disabled people.
This was mirrored in the access for the cabin where there are two doors, both with ramps for access. There is a wet room bathroom, which again makes things so much easier for my brother-in-law, and mother-in-law, who is his carer, as anything other than this we really would have struggled to get him washed. The entertainment package was great with good Wi-Fi and movies, even sports. The real showstopper was the hoist for the hot tub. This just reflects the real thought that has been put into this cabin. The hoist meant that my brother-in-law could relax and enjoy the full experience as he has never been able to get into a hot tub other than at physio. The heat does wonders for his muscles and without the hoist he would never have been able to access this.
Overall our little break was a real tonic for us all.
The facilities were fantastic and the team were so lovely, especially Connor who cleaned our hot tub over the weekend and served us at the bar. We really can't wait to return! Thanks for having us!"
