Your long weekend itinerary in Garwnant, sorted.

That well-deserved Welsh weekend break is right around the corner. Before you know it, you’ll have an entire forest on your doorstep – with the freedom to do as much or as little as you’d like.

To make your getaway even more stress-free, here is a full 4-day itinerary to help you make the most out of your holiday in the Brecon Beacons.

Day 1: Unpack and unwind

If you can resist heading straight for your cabin hot tub, why not go for a quiet wander around the forest. The fresh air is just what you need before curling up and getting cosy in front of the log burner.

If cooking whilst away from home isn’t your style, there are plenty of delicious delivery options to choose from at the Garwnant Visitor Centre before you spend the rest of your evening switching off from the usual distractions.

Garwnant is a dark sky reserve, so we would definitely recommend spending some time stargazing from your hot tub after the sun sets. How many constellations can you spot?

Day 2: Go on a forest adventure

Once you’re up and ready, be sure to ask about today’s activities. At Garwnant, we offer a range of fun activities for all ages and abilities. Test your aim on our archery range or disc golf course, have fun at pottery painting, or go on a Forest Ranger adventure with Ai-Lin, where you’ll have the chance to build dens, toast marshmallows and learn about the local wildlife!

Day 3: Seek adventure in the Brecon Beacons

We wouldn’t blame you if you wanted to spend another day exploring the Reservoir... but whilst you’re so close to the natural wonders of the Brecon Beacons - it would be a shame not to explore the National Park.

If hiking up Pen Y Fan isn’t your cup of Welsh tea, then we’d recommend following the Four Falls trail to discover why this area is known as the Waterfall Country.

Our location is also not too far from Brecon Market Town, the National Showcaves Centre for Wales, or Zip World if you’re looking for a slightly different outdoor adventure.

We recommend following the Four Falls trail.

Day 4: Forest Feeling, found

There’s nothing quite like ending a staycation by fuelling up for the journey home with a delicious breakfast and browsing the gift shop for that ultimate keepsake.

Leave feeling relaxed and refreshed knowing you have found your Forest Feeling here in Garwnant and prepare yourself for a tough decision... choosing where to go next!
