Soak up those sunny summery days all together as a family before it’s time to get your head (and theirs!) into ‘back to school’ mode. So book your summer family forest staycation and use it as the perfect opportunity to wake up your senses, connect with nature, and uncover the beautiful woodland that lies just beyond your doorstep.
With us, every time you leave the cabin doorstep to enjoy a wander in the maze of meadows and hidden trails, it feels like a moment of discovery. There’s hundreds of walks to unearth, stunning views and scenery to find and it all feels like your little secret. Just remember the camera!
Amble around lakes spotting the dragonflies, listen to the birdsong in the woods, take in the colourful blooms, hunt for mini beasts or go butterfly hunting in the meadow. There’s something so powerful about children connecting with nature. That goes for adults too!
Don’t forget, each of our Forest Rangers can bring the forest to life for children and help them to uncover animal tracks, build dens and learn about the forest and its wildlife.
Head outdoors with your Forest Ranger
Fancy heading further afield with the promise of longer, sunnier days? Get on your bike! In a day’s work you can take in forests, mountains and moorland. Revealing landscapes and man-made landmarks, cycle rides are as varied as they are rewarding and offer a glimpse into the culture, history and beauty of the UK.
Savour your downtime and soak in your very own outdoor hot tub underneath a canopy of trees and fire up the barbecue for the ultimate reward after a day on your bicycle.
If you don’t have your own bikes, you can hire them from us. We even do tag-a-longs and child seats for your very little explorers!
Explore the forest on two wheels
If you’re searching for a little arty inspiration then look no further than the forest around you. Gather some leaves, pinecones and pretty stones to take back to your hot tub cabin and make your very own creations. Sometimes it’s the simplest of activities that can be the most meaningful to little ones.
The forest is an explosion on their senses; there’s so much to see, smell and touch! Find your rhythm with a stick and whatever else you discover. There’s something rather soothing about making your very own music in the woods. Or simply listening to the natural rhythm of the forest for a few moments…
Get creative in nature
Pack up a blanket, a healthy dollop of sun cream, some jam sandwiches and head for the hills. Stopping and surrounding yourself in nature is so good for us. We find a shady spot under a big tree is just perfect.
Both adults and little ones can benefit from spending a bit of time out in the flora and fauna of the countryside, whether you’re taking a moment to listen to the birdsong, or letting the kids burn off some energy with a run-around. With the promise of a tasty picnic, you’ll have no problem getting the whole family out to explore.
Don’t forget, you can grab something from the Forest Retreat if you fancy a fuss-free picnic. Speak to the team about local picnic spots and hidden gems located nearby!
Don't forget to pack your picnic blanket
