January: The Tiger Who Came to Tea at the Grosvenor Museum

Chester’s Grosvenor Museum is hosting a family friendly exhibition celebrating the much-loved children’s book, The Tiger Who Came To Tea. Catch the last few days of this exhibition, running until 4th January 2021.

February: The Simple joy of Snowdrops

At last, the first signs of nature waking up - snowdrops. Enjoy organised snowdrop walks at Rode Hall Gardens in Congleton or Arley Hall and Gardens near Northwich.

March: Spring has Sprung

We know that winter is truly coming to an end when we see newborn lambs in the fields. For a Delamere Forest event with a difference, see lambs actually being born at one of the live lambing and zoo weekends at Reaseheath College in Nantwich. These are usually on the first two weekends of March but check their website for details.

April: Easter Events across the County

There are plenty of Delamere Forest Easter events in the area and further afield. Three highlights are the Taste Cheshire Food and Drink Festival in Chester, the Easter Boat Gathering at Ellesmere Port and a whole host of Easter family fun at Gulliver’s World theme park.

May: Hunt out Bluebells

Early May brings an abundance of bluebells, and some of the best places to see them, apart from the forest around your cabin, include the aptly named Bluebell Cottage Gardens in Dutton and Poors Wood, a Cheshire Wildlife Trust nature reserve near Nantwich

June: Forest Live

The summer months are here and it’s a season full of Delamere Forest events, concerts and festivals. The popular Delamere Forest Live concerts are always a sell-out. The forest is a great backdrop for a whole host of artists.

July: Carfest North

One of the best-loved Delamere Forest events of the summer is CarFest North, the huge festival of cars and so much more, for all the family.

August: Another Festival or Two

The festivals continue with an 80s blast at Rewind North and Creamfields for techno, drum bass and more.

September: As harvest time approaches, the festivals become less about music and more about food and drink. For one long weekend each September, Nantwich Food and Drink Festival brings you three marquees full of delicious produce from Cheshire and beyond. 2020 dates are 4 - 6 September.

October: Hello Hallowe’en! Head to the annual Nantwich Spooktacular at the Nantwich Show Ground, where over 4000 fireworks will light up the night sky and mark the start of the countdown to another Christmas.

November: Delamere Forest Christmas events start in November, when you can head to the forest to buy your Christmas tree. Make an occasion of it with the children, who can visit Santa in his grotto.

December: The best Delamere Forest Christmas events are the local pantomimes, and if previous years are anything to go by, there’ll be some crackers. StoryHouse in Chester is our hot tip. It’s a fabulous arts venue which draws big names. Other local theatres that have pantos include the Crewe Lyceum, the Grange at Northwich and the Brindley at Runcorn. Finally, for a different Delamere Forest Christmas event, within a short drive is the hugely popular Christmas Trail at Dunham Massey.

Where to stay in Delamere Forest

Our newest cabin location, Delamere Forest, is a great base to explore the area and enjoy some of these great events. After enjoying your Delamere Forest events, return to a cosy cabin where you can sink into an outdoor hot tub beneath the stars. Booking is open now for breaks from 6 November 2020.
