Things to do on location

Our location at Deerpark offers 45 Classic cabins set on the winding side of the valley and around a quiet millpond, deep in the forest. You will find the Silver Birch, Golden Oak, and one quirky but wonderful Golden Oak Treehouse. At the heart of the location is the Forest Retreat, where you’ll find a shop, restaurant, and bar area. Here you can book activities, including Forest Ranger activities, and bike hire. There is also an outdoor seating area with picnic benches and a children’s play area.

Forest Retreat

The Forest Retreat is the heart of our Deerpark location and where you will find our friendly team, who are ready to help you make the most of your holiday. Housed in an old-style stone building, the Forest Retreat has a well-stocked shop selling essential groceries and souvenirs, many of which are hand-made or locally sourced. There is also a comfortable seating area and bar where you can enjoy restaurant style meals and a café atmosphere.

    Our restaurant at Deerpark is open between 8:30am to 8:30pm (9pm Monday and Friday), serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You can order delicious freshly cooked meals, to enjoy in the inviting seating area, or a refreshing drink at the relaxed bar.

    Browse our menu, order at the bar, and inform the team of the table you’re sitting at. The terrace at Deerpark offers a seating area to sit back and enjoy the scenery. Order a drink and a bite to eat, or a refreshing drink after exploring the forest.

    We offer a takeaway service from our Forest Retreat at Deerpark. Pop in and order with us or place an order from the comfort of your cabin. Let us take care of the cooking and deliver your meal right to your cabin door.

    In the shop at Deerpark, you will find all the essentials you need during your stay, from essential groceries to souvenirs to take home. We sell a range of groceries, toiletries, beverages and of course souvenirs to remind you of your forest adventure. Please note that our usual opening times are 9am – 8:30pm (8.30am - 9pm on Mondays & Fridays).

Bike hire is available at Deerpark, please visit the Forest Retreat and speak to a member of the team. Enjoy the freedom of a cycling holiday in Cornwall, with everything from woodland jaunts to National Cycle Network routes. South-East Cornwall is great for family cycling and for more serious, long distance cycling. There are also mountain bike trails if you are looking for a thrill of a ride.

    There is a bug hotel at Deerpark, attracting lots of bugs and insects. This means they can pollinate our flowers and keep unwanted pests to a minimum like aphids and slugs.

    Drop into the Forest Retreat to find out about our self-led trails at Deerpark. The wooded valley around our cabins tells a story of tin and silver mining, gunpowder mills, and Victorian life. As you explore you will discover the ruins and remnants of this colourful history. Join guided walks and forest activities with our enthusiastic Ranger Tom and discover the untold secrets of our amazing past and learn about rare flora and fauna that surrounds our ancient forest landscape.
