Our location at Sherwood Forest is situated within 3,300 acres of magnificent pine forest, comprising of 82 forest cabins. The accommodation includes Silver Birch, Golden Oak, our famous Golden Oak Treehouse, and our romantic Golden Oak Hideaway. At the heart of Sherwood Forest is the Forest Retreat, where you can shop, eat, drink, meet the team, and book activities, including the Forest Ranger adventures. There is also a children’s outdoor play area here too.
At the Forest Retreat you will meet our friendly team who are on hand to offer help and advice to ensure you make the most of your break. Housed in a cabin style building, the Forest Retreat offers an inviting seating area, serving food and drink, along with a well organised shop.
Our restaurant at Sherwood Forest is open between 8:30am to 8:00pm, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. Enjoy freshly cooked meals made to order and snacks in the cosy café or relax in the comfortable bar with a drink or two. Browse our menu, order at the bar, and inform the team of what table you are sitting at. The terrace at Sherwood Forest offers a seating area to sit back and enjoy the forest views. Order a hot drink and a bite to eat, or a refreshing drink after exploring the forest at your doorstep. A takeaway service is available at our Forest Retreat at Sherwood Forest. In the shop at Sherwood Forest, you will find all the essentials you need during your stay, from essential groceries to souvenirs to take home. We sell a range of groceries, toiletries, beverages and of course souvenirs to remind you of your forest adventure. Please note that our usual opening times are 8:30am – 8:00pm.
There are two vehicle charging points available on location at Sherwood Forest. These can be found outside the Forest Retreat.
Your Forest Ranger at Sherwood Forest is the person to talk to about anything and everything to do with the forest. The Forest Ranger has a wealth of useful and entertaining forest facts and can be found most days at the Forest Retreat. Book onto the Forest Ranger activities, or simply have a chat with your Forest Ranger, to learn about life in the forest from the expert. Forest Ranger activities will delight everyone who visits the forest, choose from Ultimate Forest Survival to our Nocturnal Adventure and learn about the world around you.
There is a children’s play area available at Sherwood Forest, but please bear in mind that children must always be supervised by an adult.
At Sherwood Forest there is a bug hotel, attracting lots of bugs and insects. This means they can pollinate our flowers and keep unwanted pests to a minimum like aphids and slugs.
Drop into the Forest Retreat at Sherwood Forest to find out about our self-led trails, the team will be on hand to offer advice and recommendations. Your first walk might be the 700m stroll through the woods to the Sherwood Pines Visitor Centre, where you can hire bikes or book a Go Ape Treetop Adventure. You will find details of all the trails in the forest, including the one-mile Dragonfly Trail, an easily accessible trail, suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs. Pass some of the oldest trees in the forest before resting at the Dragonfly Pond. This walk also takes in play areas for the children. For a longer, three-mile walk, take the Nightjar Trail, which veers off from the Dragonfly trail.
