Things to do on location

There is plenty to do on-location at Ardgartan Argyll; head to the Forest Retreat, which is home to our restaurant, café, bar, and well-stocked shop. Here you can meet the Forest Ranger, book activities, and hire bikes. There is also an outside terrace and children’s play area.

Forest Retreat

Our Forest Retreat is in the centre of our location at Ardgartan Argyll. Housed in an old stone building you will find a well organised shop, with a comfy seating area and bar where you can enjoy restaurant style meals and a café atmosphere.

  • Restaurant, bar and café

    Our restaurant at Ardgartan Argyll is open between 8:30am – 8:30pm, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. Choose from a variety of food and beverages: curries, pizzas, burgers, and more! Browse our menu, order at the bar, and inform the team of what table you’re sitting at. If you truly want to enjoy the scenic views Ardgartan Argyll has to offer, the terrace is ideal for this. With a seating area to enjoy a coffee or snack you can sit back and enjoy the views. We offer a takeaway service from our Forest Retreat at Ardgartan Argyll. You can pop in and order with us or place an order from the comfort of your cabin. We’ll take care of the cooking and deliver your meal right to your cabin door.

  • Shop

    In the shop at Ardgartan Argyll, you will find all the essentials you need during your stay, from essential groceries to souvenirs to take home. We sell a range of groceries, toiletries, beverages and of course souvenirs to remind you of your forest adventure. Please note that our usual opening times are 8:30am – 8:00pm.

Vehicle Charging Point

There are two vehicle charging points available on location at Ardgartan Argyll. These can be found outside the Forest Retreat.

Bike hire

Bike hire is available, please visit the Forest Retreat and speak to a member of the team or add to your booking through your online account.

Forest Ranger Adventure 

Meet Andy, your Forest Ranger at Ardgartan Argyll. He's a mountain man who lives and works in Argyll forest, so has plenty of exciting experiences to share with you. Andy is friendly, fun and full of information about Scotland's natural wildlife. Join him on a number of Forest Ranger activities during your stay and uncover the secrets of Argyll forest!

  • Children's play area

     

    There is a children’s play area available at Ardgartan Argyll, but please bear in mind that children must always be supervised by an adult.

     

  • Bug hotel and wildlife

     

    At Ardgartan Argyll there is a bug hotel, encouraging lots of bugs and insects. This means they can pollinate our flowers and keep unwanted pests to a minimum like aphids and slugs.

  • Scotland trails

    There are lots of scenic walks direct from your cabin. Try the shorter Riverside or Boathouse walks, both under 3.2km, to whet your walking appetite. Then, for a longer walk, take the Cat Craig Loop. This 6.4km walk has great views of Loch Long and there are picnic spots along the way. Build on a further 6.4km and some stunning views with the Coilessen Glen Loop.
