Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, the county’s leading locally based conservation charity has today revealed Forest Holidays - Sherwood Forest as a major sponsor of their Champions of Sherwood campaign.

Forest Holidays has worked hard to improve its own grounds for wildlife through appropriate management and mitigation, which has retained and enhanced the woodland, in a sensitive and appropriate manner. This has enabled them to create nature filled, eco-friendly holiday experiences in the heart of Sherwood Forest. Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust has worked with Forest Holidays for a number of years, providing advice on how to manage their surroundings and in doing so protect wildlife in the area.

Speaking on behalf of Forest Holidays, Amby Tatla, General Manager at Sherwood Forest said: “We work very hard to protect wildlife on our own site so supporting Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust’s work beyond our boundaries seemed like a logical next step”.

Isabel Greed, Development Manager at Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust added: “‘Forest Holidays has been a valued supporter for a number of years. We have supported their efforts to sensitively manage their site to maintain the rich diversity of wildlife whilst also expanding and developing their business. We are incredibly grateful to them for their recent support as a key sponsor of our efforts to restore key areas of delicate heathland habitat in Sherwood Forest over the next three years.”

Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust’s Champions of Sherwood programme seeks to recognise efforts to restore and reconnect habitats such as heathland, grassland and woodland across Sherwood Forest and to raise funds for conservation and education initiatives in the forest area.
