A forest full of adventure

The forest and surrounding landscape is a playground for adventure-seekers. Canoeing, fishing, cycling, climbing, jumping, shooting – you have the freedom to try anything. A Forest Holiday is the ultimate UK adventure holiday.

Scenic trails on your doorstep

Whichever of our cabin locations you stay at, you will find miles of woodland trails and forest tracks to explore, offering everything from a relaxed meander to a challenging hike.

Miles of cycle trails for every level

Our forests offer fantastic terrains for off-road cycling. For family jaunts there are gentle trails to sunlit glades, and for those seeking adventure there are exhilarating, mud-spattered biking routes. All of our sites offer bike hire, and our site teams will be happy to advise on the best cycle trails to take.  Bike hire is available to book online.  You can add bike hire to your booking once you have a cabin in your basket.

Archery and Shooting

Aim to master age-old skills

Lose yourself in concentrated effort, and experience the thrill that comes when you hit the target.

Where better to test your archery skills than Sherwood Forest, the home of Robin Hood, or at Keldy or Cropton on the wild North York Moors.

We also offer a range of other shooting activities including crossbow shooting*, clay target shooting*, and air rifle shooting*!

*Available at selected locations.

The UK’s No.1 Forest Adventure

Everyone has the Go Ape spirit just waiting to be unleashed! Go Ape promise a day out you'll never forget. They brief you for safety before you fly down zip-wires, leap off Tarzan Swings and tackle crossings whilst enjoying some of Britain's most breathtaking scenery close to all of our cabin sites. You can also get off-road and explore the great outdoors on the latest all-terrain segways, near to some of our sites. Go as a group, family or friends, and enjoy a great adventure. And enjoy an exclusive 10% discount on ticket prices as a Forest Holidays guest.

Test your nerve at some of the UK’s best locations

Leap off a towering cliff at Adrenalin Quarry near Deerpark or bag a challenging Munro in Ardgartan Argyll. These are just two possibilities from the wealth of thrilling activities we have at, or close to, our locations across the UK.

Forest of Dean and Thorpe Forest also offer you the chance to try your hand at climbing.

Trying new activities in the forest

From lazy rivers to thrilling rapids

From gently drifting down the river at Forest of Dean or Thorpe Forest, to windswept sea kayaking off the west coast of Scotland; beginner or enthusiast; this is the chance to hit the water and test your skills.

Tried canoeing or kayaking before and looking for a new challenge? How about paddle boarding! Available now at Forest of Dean, Ardgartan Argyll, and Strathyre.

Master the forest terrain

Off-road motorsports require quick wits, skill and daring, but the rewards are thrilling. Try muddy and challenging 4x4 driving* in the Forest of Dean or Thorpe Forest, or explore forest trails on a Segway at Go Ape, available near each of our locations.

*This is a third party activity taking place away from Forest Holidays and travel will be required.

Angling for a break?

Nothing beats fishing for reconnecting with nature. Every one of our cabin locations are within easy reach of fishing waters, from the mighty River Wye in the Forest of Dean to the bountiful waters of Ardgartan Argyll’s Loch Long.

Explore the forest on horseback

What better way to explore the forest trails and countryside than with a hack? Only a short drive from our cabins at Sherwood Forest is an equestrian centre, steeped in history and located at Bank House Farm. The surrounding areas are superb for hacking, with woodland trekking straight from the farm and a fantastic circular route through the archaeological beauty spot of Creswell Crags.
