Welcome to Garwnant Visitor Centre

This family friendly forest has everything you’ll need for a fantastic day out in the great outdoors. Set in the Brecon Beacons National Park, just off the A470 north of Merthyr Tydfil. You’ll find walking trails, bike hire, children’s activities, pottery painting, a brand-new café and much more.

 

 

About the Visitor Centre at Garwnant

Open every day from 8:30am - 5pm (8pm on Mondays and Fridays).

Our new Forest Café is open from 8:30am - 5pm.

Everything you need for a great day out at Garwnant:

  • Visit our Forest café after a day spent in the forest.
  • Book brand new activities including Forest Ranger sessions and pottery painting.
  • Choose from a variety of walking trails.
  • Bring a picnic and enjoy the view from our picnic benches.
  • Explore the outdoor play area.
  • Try out the cycle skills park and hire a bike.
  • Toilets.
  • Small gift shop.

    We’re making it easier to pay for car parking. From 27 March 2023 our car park will use number plate recognition (ANPR). This means that you’ll be able to pay for your parking at a pay station before you leave, rather than paying at the Visitor Centre when you arrive.

    Garwnant Visitor Centre is 5 miles north of Merthyr Tydfil. It is in the county of Rhondda Cynon Taf.

    How to find us

    Directions: Take the A470 from Merthyr Tydfil towards Brecon and follow the signs to the car park. The postcode for satellite navigation is CF48 2HU.

    Public transport: The nearest mainline railway station is in Merthyr Tydfil. For details of public transport go to the Traveline Cymru website.
