Wood Sorrel
Woodland surrounding Ardgartan Argyll provides a diverse range of habitats for many flowering plants and trees. Wood sorrel is a charming small plant with three equal, lemony flavoured, heart shaped leaves which may droop and close up at night earning it the cute nickname of ‘sleeping beauty’. Its white flowers have five petals with tiny purple veins which also close up as the light fades.
Golden Eagle
The beautiful lake setting at Ardgartan Argyll is the perfect backdrop to watch nature in all its glory. If you’re fortunate you may catch the truly memorable sight of a Golden Eagle in flight. This magnificent bird of prey with a wingspan of up to 2m soars majestically overhead before suddenly diving when it spots its prey.
