Dog and pet friendly holidays

We know your dog is part of the family and we know that dogs love forests. That’s why we welcome pets and it’s why half our cabins – and all our team, are pet-friendly. A Forest Holiday is the perfect pet-friendly UK holiday.
Pet-friendly holidays in the UK

Make your dog happy

When your pet is part of the family, it’s only right that they come on holiday with you. That’s why all our locations are pet-friendly. From the warm welcome to your pets, to the doggy treats in your cabin, to the freedom of the UK's amazing forests, your pet will love you for bringing them along.

Did we mention the forest? Here your dog will be in heaven, snuffling through the leaves, collecting sticks, splashing in streams and of course, finding every muddy puddle. If dogs could describe their idea of the perfect holiday, they would describe a Forest Holidays break.

Pet-friendly holiday accommodation

Cosy cabins where pets are welcome

After a day playing in the forest, the dog can rest safely on the enclosed decking of your cabin, keeping one eye open for forest creatures, while you relax in the hot tub. As night falls, there is plenty of room in the cabin for your pet's bedding and favourite toys and the gentle warmth of the underfloor heating in some cabins will lull them into happy dreams.

And with half of our cabins now pet-friendly, you won’t struggle for availability. Bring up to four pets per cabin - it’s usually dogs but other pets are welcome too, and it’s £10 per pet, per night. Your cabin receives a deep clean before you arrive and is just as well-appointed in every way as a pet-free cabin.

Little things that make a big difference

We love dogs at Forest Holidays and welcome them with open arms; some of our Forest Rangers even have their own dogs at work with them. You can bring your dog into the Forest Retreat or let them rest at the drinking station while you get them some Beco doggy treats from the shop. There are outdoor taps to wash the worst of the forest mud away after a long walk too, and many other little things to make life for you and your dog easier.

You’ll understand that you must keep your dog on a lead around the cabins and we ask that you don’t leave them alone in the cabin.

Can we bring the dog?

Pet-friendly attractions near to our locations

There are plenty of dog-friendly activities near to our locations, from forest trails to museums and even a jail! Inveraray Jail near to Ardgartan Argyll welcomes dogs, and they are welcome too in the bar and garden at our Strathyre local, The Lade Inn. In North Yorkshire, the Ryedale Folk Museum, a short drive from Cropton and Keldy, is dog-friendly and, at Sherwood Forest, you can take the dog to Hardwick Old Hall, an English Heritage property.

How about a trip on a steam train? Dogs are welcome at Dean Forest Railway in the Forest of Dean or the Bure Valley Railway in Norfolk, near Thorpe Forest, where they even have their own resident cocker spaniel, Henry. In Hampshire, near Blackwood Forest, the South Downs offer miles of beautiful walks for you and your dog and, at the Eden Project in Cornwall, close to Deerpark, dogs can enjoy the outdoor trails, although you can’t take them into the biomes. This is just a flavour of the things you can do on a Forest Holiday with your dog; see our Forestipedia blogs too, for dog-friendly beaches and other dog-friendly holiday ideas.
